Committee setup to resolve government newspapers dispute
KARACHI- Sindh government has constituted a four member media committee, to be headed by home secretary as convener, to mediate and dissolve disputes between newspapers and the government.
Other members of the committee are secretary information as member/secretary and representatives of the CPNE and APNS.
The terms of reference of the committee are:-
To scrutinize the objectionable matter in the light of current ethical standards;- to fix responsibility and suggest action, and to give its findings and expeditiously as possible but not later then 15 days.
The committee has been constituted due to action taken by home department few days back against two dailies in Karachi for publishing objectionable material and photographs.
The committee will work on a permanent basis and will be responsible for resolution of such disputes occurring in future as well.
