He said that the present democratic government in Frontier had been trying to establish close and cordial relations with journalist community. It was the responsibility of any government to know the grievances of all segments of the society and make all possible efforts for their welfare. “In this context, my government cannot ignore the welfare of journalist fraternity.

We consider press to be the fourth pillar of the state and the strength of the building is measured by the strength of its pillars. I have expressed the desire at certain occasions that the journalist community should play an effective role in eliminating corruption, obscenity, vulgarity, and other social evils from the society. Fortunately, the pressmen in frontier and particularly in Peshawar demonstrated utmost responsibility and cooperation with us in the fulfillment of our desire.

I hope that in future too, the journalist will promote professionalism and virtues and help eliminate evils. I welcome positive criticism on the government’s policies and the hope that the pressmen will also appreciate the good steps taken by his government.
