Child rapist sentenced to 10 years in prison

KARACHI: A sessions court on Thursday sentenced a man to ten years in prison in a case pertaining to rape of a six-year-old girl.
The court found Afzal Ahmed guilty of subjecting the minor girl to sexual assault within the remit of the Baloch Colony police station in January 2009.
The additional district and sessions judge (south), Jangu Khan, who conducted the trial, pronounced the judgment after recording evidence and final arguments from both sides.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs50,000 and in case of a default, the convict would undergo an additional three-month imprisonment.
The accused was produced before the court in custody and the judge extended the benefit of Section 382-B of the criminal procedure code to the convict and remanded him back to prison along with a conviction warrant to serve out the awarded sentence.
According to the prosecution, on Jan 16, 2009 Afzal took away the victim from the outside her house in Baloch Colony area and raped her.
A case (FIR No.25/2009) was registered under Section 376 (punishment for rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code on the compliant of the victim’s mother and the police arrested the accused and later he was remanded in jail custody.
