Charge of detaining CNN producer refuted
LAHORE – A spokesman of the Punjab police has categorically contradicted a news item appearing in a section of the press wherein it has been alleged that CNN’s regional producer Syed Mohsin Naqvi was detained in his residence during the night between May 10 and May 11.
The spokesman said that there is no truth in the report and the factual position is that police officials went to the residence of the journalist after receiving information that a bomb has been planted in the house.
He said that police officials entered the premises after seeking due permission of the occupants and they neither detained the journalist nor restricted his movement.
These officials, as maintained by the spokesman, did not stay at site for a single movement after completing their job, he added.
