CDGK to compile list of blast victims

The City District Government Karachi (CDGK) is compiling a list of the PPP rally bomb blast victims of the October 18 scenario so that the disbursement of compensation to these people can be arranged as soon as possible.

Informed sources told The News on Saturday that District Coordination Officer (DCO) Karachi, Javed Hanif has received a letter from the Sindh Home Department requesting to submit the list of the people killed and injured during the PPP rally. More than 140 persons have been killed and nearly 500 sustain injuries and now the compensation has to be announced by the government.

Sources add that the list of those killed and injured is being compiled from the Jinnah Hospital, Abbasi Shaheed, Liaquat National and Aga Khan Hospitals. The other sources include the official records of medico legal officers of these hospitals.

Moreover, another list is also being compiled with the help of data published in local newspapers. List from Edhi has also been called for and final authenticity will be made from the cell established by the PPP. Sources said that it will take time to compile these two lists.

Hanif while informally talking to the newsmen at his office said that so far 27 persons have been identified and their bodies are being sent to Interior Sindh. Also, legal heirs of the dead are being paid Rs10,000 each. The PPP sources while talking to The News said that very soon PPP will publish a list of those killed and injured, which is being compiled by PPP workers.
