Cancellation of islands deal demanded
THATTA: The Kinjhar Fishermen Welfare Society organised a rally here on Friday to protest against the handing over of Bundal and Buddo islands to a foreign company in Sindh, the contract system for freshwater fisheries and the Kalabagh dam. The participant of the rally marched on the National Highway and gathered in front of the Thatta Press Club, where speakers criticised the government for giving SindhÕs islands to a foreign company by evacuating local fishermen from there. They demanded the cancellation of the island deal, the withdrawal of the Kalabagh dam’s plan and the elimination of the contract system. They also demanded fishing rights should be given to local fishermen. Adam Gandaro and Hasan Mallah were among the speakers.
