Call to arrest gang-rape accused
LAHORE: The Central Christian Action Committee staged a protest demonstration in front of the Lahore Press Club on Monday for immediate action against those accused of gang-raping a minor girl in Moza Kala Khatai, Sheikhupura, some 12 days ago.
Protesters chanted slogans against the barbarism of the accused and police officials involved. Protesters carried banners and placards inscribed with slogans condemning police. Accused Yasin Gujjar and his friend Shahbaz Arain had kidnapped victim Salma Tufail, 12, a resident of Moza Kala Khatai, on February 9 and gang raped her. The victim’s family alleged that the accused were history-sheeters. Cases were registered against them in the Narang Mandi and Shaikhupura police stations.
The accused allegedly stopped the victim family from taking any legal action against them. However, the Sheikhupura police registered a case against the accused after protests by the relatives of the victim.
