BR assistant editor Hafeez Khan passes away

KARACHI – Abdul Hafeez Khan, Assistant Editor, Business Recorder, expired here late Decembe26’s night. According to family sources he suffered a heart attack, which proved fatal. He was 78. He joined this newspaper in 1988 and remained actively involved in his professional work till Saturday. Hafeez Khan had his break in economic journalism around mid 1950s when he joined weekly “Karachi Commerce”, country’s premier commercial journal. Working in various capacities, he soon distinguished himself as a commerce reporter.

Later, with fast developing capital market, he remained actively engaged in covering stock trading at the Karachi Stock Exchange. This was one professional activity, which he continued for long years.

Although later he joined Picic as its Public Relations Officer but his professional commitment forced him to continue covering the stock market and corporate business for Pakistan Observer, published from Dacca, until 1971 when the newspaper ceased publication.

He was a deeply religious person and was liked by his colleagues. It would be difficult to fill the gap created by his death. Those who worked with him closely would miss him and his amiable dealings with his fellow colleagues.
