Bol gets three awards in Asian Film Festival
LONDON: Bol, released by Geo Films, got three awards in 14th London Asian Film Festival. The cinema of Pakistan was represented at the festival with the screening of Bol, a film which focuses on gender discrimination.
The film won the ‘Best Film Award’, its lead actress Humaima Malik the best actress award and Amar Kashmiri won the best new category award.Humaima Malik said it was important for the Pakistani cinema to be represented at the festival.
“Bol is an art piece from my country so I feel great for representing my cinema and my country in the festival,” she added. Humaima said it was a very meaningful film, which featured the real experiences of women. “It is an important film because the subject is so powerful and it is been nominated in so many different countries for so many awards. We have seven nominations in the festival and finally we got three awards,” she added.
