Best town Nazim Award part of Aug 14 celebrations

KARACHI, August 06 2006: The 59th Independence Day celebrations of Pakistan have been organized in a befitting manner in the Sindh province, and various programmes have been chalked out at government level while social welfare organizations, NGOs and public oriented associations are also arranging many such events.

Under the directives of Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad, the responsibility of coordination and execution of such programmes has been entrusted to the local governments, Katchi Abadies and Special Development Department. A comprehensive plan for national songs, speeches and art competitions, walks and marathon, donkey-cart race, women’s bazaar, musical nights, fireworks and prize distribution ceremony for Karachi city has been made and city district government is coordinating such activities to give a boosting effect to these celebrations. Similar programmes are also being arranged at district, taluka, and union council levels.

The programmes in Karachi also include awards for Best Town Nazim (Services) and (Illumination) on Azadi Day and prize for Special Children while the Oldest Citizen from the Crowd, at city and town level will be given special prize.
