Balochistan CM increases advertising budget by 40pc

QUETTA: The All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) expressed its pleasure on 40pc increase in the advertising budget by the chief minister, Balochistan, and welcomed his assurances for judicious release of advertisements to the Balochistan-based publications.

APNS Secretary General Umer Mujib Shami announced the decisions of the executive committee meeting chaired by the APNS President Sarmad Ali held at Quetta on November 24, 2016. The executive committee members were invited to a luncheon meeting by the Chief Minister, Balochistan, Sardar Sanaullah Zehri. The APNS office bearers placed the problems faced by the Balochistan-based publications to the CM, who very kindly announced to increase the advertising budget of the province by 40 percent, assured allocations for display advertisements and looked into the grievances of local publications for judicious release of advertisements. The APNS office-bearers expressed their thanks to the chief minister for accepting the demands.

The Acting Governor, Balochistan, Ms Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, also hosted a dinner for the visiting members of the executive committee. The executive committee noted that Balochistan publications were being harassed by the provincial NAB officials. It, through a resolution, urged upon the NAB authorities to refrain from victimising publications as they have no jurisdiction to institute cases against private enterprises.

The members across the country considered the recommendations of the Scrutiny-cum-Enrollment Committee and decided to grant full membership to Daily Abaseen, Rahimyar Khan, Weekly Al Akhbar Karachi, Monthly Centreline, Islamabad, Monthly Diplomatic Focus, Islamabad, Daily Jehan Pakistan, Lahore, Daily Jiddat, Karachi, Daily Karnama, Lodhran, Daily Nawa-e-Pak, Islamabad, Daily Raat, Lahore, Daily Sang-e-Meel, Multan, Daily Sarzameen, Lahore, Daily Tameer-e-Sindh, Karachi, Daily The Frontier Star, Peshawar, and Daily Waqif, Faisalabad.

The Executive Committee noted that Daily Khabraan, Lahore, Daily The Post, Lahore, and Daily Naya Akhbar, Karachi, have ceased their publications and decided to remove these publications from the list of members.

The executive committee also considered applications for membership and decided to grant associate membership to Daily Ausaf, Karachi, Daily Ausaf, Multan, Daily Nawa-i-Sindh, Jaccobabad, Daily Pakistan Today, Karachi, Daily Jeejal, Hyderabad, Daily Awami Forum, Karachi, Daily Riyasat, Karachi, Daily Aaj Subh, Peshawar, Daily Islam, Peshawar, Daily Payam-e-Khyber, Peshawar, Daily Aeen, Peshawar, Daily Mirror, Quetta, Daily Dunya, Multan, Daily Pakistan, Karachi, Daily Jehan Pakistan, Islamabad, and Daily Gulf News, Lahore. The executive committee considered the report of advertising committee and decided grant of provisional accreditation to M/s. RG Blue Communications (Pvt.) Ltd. Lahore, M/s. Fourays Advertising (Pvt.) Ltd. Karachi, M/s. Solution 1, Karachi and M/s. Adworks (Pvt.) Ltd., Karachi. The executive committee also decided to grant confirmation of accreditation to M/s. Revolution Media, Lahore.
