Authorities urged to help APNS official from police highhandedness

KARACHI: The All Pakistan Newspapers Society has requested the Home Minister, Punjab and IG Police Punjab to advise the concerned officials of North Cantonment Police Station to take immediate action on the FIR of Syed Muhammad Munir Jilani, Finance Secretary of the APNS, lodged against the theft of valuables amounting to over Rs12 lacs.

The APNS has stated that Syed Muhammad Munir Jilani, Finance Secretary of the APNS had lodged an FIR in the North Cant PS Lahore a week ago against the theft in his house. The accused have been apprehended and handled over to the Police Station and they admitted to the theft of cash, jewelry, mobile phones and lap tops from the house.

The Police Investigation Officers, Inspector, Ghulam Abbas and Sub-Inspector, Shehbaz Ahmed having investigated the case and recovered a major part of stolen valuables are now supporting the culprits and have not taken any action against the other three accused nominated in the FIR. It appears that they have planned to take the recovered amount and release the culprits from the case.

The APNS strongly urges upon the government of the Punjab to protect the media-man from traditional highhanded tactics and ensure recovery of stolen valuables and appropriate action against the accused nominated in the FIR.
