Asma Jehangir resigns as HRCP co-chairperson
Islamabad: Asma Jehangir, co-chairperson Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, a veteran human rights activists and recipient of a number of national and international awards given to her in recognition of her services, has sent her resignation to concerned quarters.
She told a number of mediamen in the Supreme Court building on Monday that she would be contesting the Supreme Court Bar Association upcoming elections. Asma said she considered it appropriate to leave her office as she would not like to involve the HRCP. Â“I have already informed my colleagues during a meeting and will be sending her resignation shortly,” she added.
