APNS welcomes Sethi as Punjab caretaker CM

KARACHI: The All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) has welcomed the appointment of Najam Sethi as the Punjab caretaker Chief Minister and hoped that during his tenure in office, the cordial relations between the Punjab provincial government and APNS will be more strengthened.

According to a press release the President and Secretary General of the APNS in a statement expressed their immense pleasure that a veteran journalist and publisher member of the Society has been nominated as Punjab chief minister. The APNS also expressed its confidence that during his tenure, the APNS would enjoy active cooperation and assistance from the government of Punjab in addressing the problems faced by the newspapers.

The APNS hoped that during his tenure as Chief Minister, Najam Sethi would look into the matters personally and resolve the issues for a better and cordial relation between the print media and the Punjab government.

Online adds: The APNS Punjab Committee through a resolution also congratulated Najam Sethi on his assumption of the office of caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab. Chairman, Jamil Athar Qazi chaired the meeting in Lahore on Wednesday.

The meeting expressed the hope that Najam Sethi would be successful in conducting free and transparent elections in the province.

The meeting also stressed that the interim CM will focus his attention towards the solution of the newspapers and magazines problems.

The meeting demanded of the Punjab government to fix 25 percent quota for district newspapers, 20 percent for the metropolitan and small newspapers and five percent for the magazines of the province and implement the advertisement policy of the Punjab government in its letter and spirit.
