Advice to woman entrepreneurs

LAHORE, Jan 24: Women entrepreneurs were called upon to develop leadership skills for playing their role in the economic growth of the country with greater confidence, self-esteem and dedication at an Open House at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Saturday.

LCCI President Mian Muzaffar Ali said it was encouraging to note that there was a consensus in Pakistan that the best way to achieve women emancipation was through economic independence which could be achieved by their participation in economic activity and entrepreneurship.

He said according to a UN report the economic development was closely related to the advancement of women. In countries where women were educated, the economy had usually been steady.

By contrast, in countries where women had been restricted, the economy had been stagnant.

LCCI senior vice-president Tahir Javaid Malik and vice-president Irfan Iqbal Sheikh linked the progress of the country with the participation of women in economic activities stating that the women had better chances to excel for having better managerial skills.

LCCI standing committee on women entrepreneurs convener Ms Aasia Saail said the chamber would utilise all its resources to resolve the issues being faced by women businessmen.

All measures were being taken to ensure the participation of women entrepreneurs in LCCI foreign delegations or for their participation in foreign exhibitions as they had to face troubles with particular reference to their business visits.
