64 cable operators arrested

KARACHI- Karachi police during its campaign against cable operators involved in screening Indian and objectionable movies arrested 64 persons from different vicinities of the metropolis.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operation, Tariq Jameel has strictly directed all Town Police Officers (TPOs) in Karachi city to personally monitor cable operators whether they are involved in displaying objectionable movies particularly Indian movies, songs and dramas.

Station House Officers (SHOs) of different police stations in the city conducted raids in response to these directives and arrested 64 cable runners on charge of displaying Indian movies and other objectionable visuals.

Police apprehended four operators from Mithadar, eight from Aram Bagh, while 45 others were arrested from the limits of Kharadar, Preedy, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, Super Market and Buffer Zone police stations. Police have also recovered scores of Indian movies CDs and dish receivers and decoders.
