Mysterious blast creates panic in Orangi Town

KARACHI: A mysterious blast took place in Arshi Ground within the remits of Orangi Town on Thursday. Police said that a highly explosive blast occurred at Sector 10, Orangi Town. The explosion was planted in Orangi Town. Law-enforcement agencies and experts of bomb disposal squad rushed to the scene. Police opined that it could be a part of the nationalists strike because the blast did not harm anybody but created panic among the inhabitants.

Meanwhile, unknown extortionists threw a hand cracker at a fuel pump station located in the remits of Khawaja Ajmair Nagri police station. Police said unknown assailants reached there at a motorbike and threw cracker at the petrol pump. The pumpo station was partially damaged while customers’ vehicles standing at the station were also damaged. Police quoted the owner of petrol pump as saying Shair Malik and who was also a district general secretary of Pakistan People Party that culprits representing Tehreek-e-Taliban demanded extortion money and fixed the bomb in his car bearing registration number AXY-996 and exploded the device when he declined to pay the extortion.

In another incident, miscreants set a public bus on fire at University Road near Safora Chowrangi within the remits of Sachal police station. Police said that bus was torched to create panic ahead of the strike call given by the nationalist parties.MQM MINISTERS CALL ON CM: A delegation of MQM ministers on Thursday met with Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and raised concern over non-implementation of Sindh Local Government Ordinance.

MQM delegation led by Raza Haroon, Faisal Sabzwari, Zubair Ahmed Khan and Shaikh Muhammad Afzal, while PPP ministers- Agha Siraj Durrani and Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon led by CM represented ruling PPP in the meeting.

All ministers presented reports pertaining to their departments, said an official statement issued from THE CM House. Minister for Information Technology Raza Haroon presented report of ARFA Karim information technology city Karachi and project regarding introduction of e-Police system in Sindh. He said that the IT Department has decided to computerize and modernize the Police Department by providing process automation connectivity and information inflow to the police stations, Central Police Office and prisons all over the province.

MQM minister leader and minister for IT Raza Haroon informed that as per project, 70 seats call centres were working effectively and quick response on emergency calls had reduced the crime. He said that with the help of vehicle tracking system, nearest available Police Mobiles, ambulances and fire Brigade could reach the place of incident immediately. Chief Minister Sindh discussed the issues in detail and assured that these schemes will be thoroughly considered for implantation.

Meanwhile, the MQM ministers also raised concern over the lack of implementation on the local government law.
