Workshop for AJK journalists concludes

MIRPUR (AJK) – Safety Clinic for AJK Journalists was the topic of the two-day media training workshop concluded here the other day.The workshop held with an objective to raise awareness among both freelance and working journalists about adopting due safety measures to save their computerized communicated data on the internet. The event was organised by an NGO – Intermedia.

At least 28 working and freelance journalists affiliated with the national print and electronic media including the AJK State press participated in the workshop.Facilitators including Project Coordinator Intermedia Naveed Asghar and Aftab Ahmed highlighted the objectives of holding the workshop under the broad-based plan to boost the professional skills of the media men working in the remote and far-flung areas like AJK to ensure safety of their journalistic material on internet through the required latest means. The facilitators, through lectures, apprised the audience of the importance of adoption of privacy policy through the use of five tools to protect their privacy, secure social net working and proper use of internet service particularly through the creation of secured passwords as well the most credible URLs and ISPs.Later, Mirpur SSP Ch Munir Hussain, Press Secretary to AJK Prime Minister Zaffar Mughal and President JKJO Hafiz Maqsood gave away certificates to the participants of the workshop.
