Wife wants to hold direct talks with abductors

Marianne Pearl, while repeating her appeal to the alleged abductors of her husband Daniel Pearl to free him, has said she wants to hold direct talks with them in order to convince them that Danny is an innocent man.

“I would like to talk to them. I have carefully read the email message which they have sent to newspapers. I ask them to establish contact with me. We have come to Pakistan just to know why these people are angry with us and want to see what we can do for them,” the wife of missing “Wall Street Journal” reporter Daniel Pearl told the BBC in an interview on Monday.

She further said she has suffered a lot due to the abduction of Danny and that she can sacrifice her life for him.

To a question, she said Danny is not an agent of the American intelligence agency CIA but he is an honest journalist.

To another question, she could not tell to whom Danny went to meet on the day of his disappearance, saying “usually we both used to go together but on that day I was not feeling well because I am expecting a child, that is why I could not go along with Danny and I do not know to whom he went to meet.”

Due to the disappearance of Danny, she further said, she was very much mentally perturbed and depressed.
