Taseer comes down heavily on Jang Group, Geo
LAHORE: Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer on Tuesday came down heavily on the Jang Group of Publications as well as Geo Television Network.
Taseer was talking to media at a photo exhibition of the PPP leaders at Alhamra Art Gallery here. Denying the recent reports of his absence from the country, the governor said that not he but his wife and daughter had gone to Dubai, while he himself was chairing a meeting of the Board of Governors of the Aitcheson College at the Governor’s House.
He added that Ansar Abbasi (senior journalist of The News), PML-N SenatorPervaiz Rasheed and Rana Sana Ullah must show some ‘sense’, as they didn’t even know whether he was in country or abroad. He said he never went abroad without informing concerned and it is for them to notify the same. He said Jang and Geo were claiming by showing copies of tickets of his wife and daughter that he was abroad. What kind of journalism is this? he asked. Taseer said the group was only targeting him and the PPP. He alleged Jang Group and Geo, along with the Punjab govt, tried to implicate him in a false case regarding a plot to kill the then LHC CJ.
