SC to hear APNS review petition on 28th
ISLAMABAD, April 15, 2005: A three-member Supreme Court (SC) bench will hear the review petition of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) against the 7th Wage Board Award on April 28.
The review petition has been filed against an earlier decision of the SC wherein the petition challenging the 7th Wage Board Award and the Newspapers Employees (Condition of Service) Act 1973 had been dismissed.
Newspaper owners had sought the repeal of Newspapers Employees (Condition of Service) Act 1973 because they said it conflicted with the Constitution of Pakistan because it was not in consonance with Article 8 of the Constitution.
A three-member SC bench headed by Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry will resume hearing of the review petition on April 28.
