‘Rs1.9m released to newspapers’

Karachi: The Sindh Information Department has taken serious notice of the outstanding dues of the newspaper industry and had taken very positive steps to resolve the matter, Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri said Tuesday while talking to the members of the All-Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) Executive Committee.

She informed the members of APNS Executive Committee that Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah had approved the payment schedule to the newspaper industry and more than Rs1.9 million had been released to the department and the payment process to the newspaper industry had been started.

She said that it was ensured to remove the grievances of APNS members on a priority basis and the government would do total justice to the members of the media.

She said that it was a historical achievement to get such a huge amount to clear outstanding dues of the newspaper industry.
