Rs 30 million being utilised to computerise Auqaf record

LAHORE (August 25 2007): Punjab Minister for Zakat Sahibzada Saeed-ul-Hassan on Friday said his department’s Jahez Committee doled out dowry worth up to Rs 150,000 every month to the poor through a transparent mechanism at Data Darbar.

Saeed told reporters that his department had given dowry worth up to Rs 50,000 at each zonal level in the province to 10 destitute girls. “A composite strategy has been evolved to improve performance and services of the Auqaf Department,” he added.

He said his department had set up closed circuit security cameras at the Badshahi Mosque for public security. “The department is spending Rs 28 million through a network of 15 dispensaries and the Data Darbar Hospital to provide free medical facilities to the needy annually. And my department is using Rs 30 million to computerise official records,”
