Relief Fund formed for flood-hit journalists, says Firdous
SANGHAR: Government has constituted a “Special Relief Fund for the Journalists,” affected during floods in 23 rain-hit districts of Sindh, said federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Friday.
Addressing the members at Sanghar Press Club, she said the fund was established on special directives of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani.
She said press clubs functional in the concerned 23 districts were being approached to provide lists and details of the loss suffered by the affected journalists.
On the occasion President, Sanghar Press Club, Aftab Anjum Nizamani presented ajrak and sets of books to Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan accompanied by State Minister, Khuda Baksh Rajpar and representatives from international media.
Meanwhile, the minister earlier during her visit to the relief camp set up at a government school in Sanghar, distributed ration bags and other goods among the flood-affected people.
