Publication of blasphemous caricature flayed
ISLAMABAD (September 03 2007): Central leader of Muttahida Majhlis-e-Ammal (MMA) Senator Professor Khurshid Ahmad has strongly condemned the publication of blasphemous caricature of Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) by a Swedish newspaper.
In a press statement here on Sunday he said that there was a systematic and organised campaign going on in the Western media to provoke Muslims in the name of freedom of expression.
According to him, the hypocrisy and double standards of the West in this respect was written large on the horizon. Some fifteen Western countries, Professor Khurshid Ahmad emphasised, have made legislation against blasphemy of the Christ (AS) and Christianity and even on questioning the Holocaust.
He recalled that recently a historian of international repute was sentenced to prison in Australia who had expressed doubts about Holocaust. “But attitude towards Islam is different. There is open license to abuse, slender and demonise Islam, its Prophet (peace be upon him) and Muslims”.
