Private TV channels bring positive change

KARACHI- Emergence and evolution of in the people’s way of thinking.

This was stated by Dr Shahid Masood, a prominent TV presenter of current affairs programme and Director News of a private channel, while delivering a lecture on the “role of private media in the development of public opinion.” It was arranged by the Department of Mass Communication of KU in Karachi.

Dr Shahid said that before the private channels, people had the opportunity to hear only the official versions of the national issues and for an independent view, they had to turn to international media. He said that throughout the world, the media professionals have to pay heavy price to express truth.

Talking about the role of private media he said the people were not only well versed with the issues, but also have the ability to think over them to develop their own independent opinion and the society witnessed a positive change as result of the emergence of private media.

The Chairman Department of Mass Communication, Prof Dr Tahir Masood, in his concluding remarks said that Dr Shahid has made his place deep in the hearts of people for voicing their feelings. Dr Tahir on the occasion presented a set of the Departments’ publications to him.

Later, Dr Shahid Masood called on the Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Pirzada Qasim and discussed with him matters of mutual interests. The Chairman and faculty members of the Department of Mass Communication were also present on the occasion.
