PESHAWAR – The NWFP Home and Tribal Affairs Department relaxed its decision regarding imposition of a ban on the visit of foreign journalists to the tribal areas with allowing a limited number to cover Torkham from Mechani check post.

The NWFP government in the light of ISPR Director General Maj. Gen. Rashid Qureshi and Federal Secretary Information Anwar Mehmood’s meeting with the foreign journalists revised its September 24 last decision.

In this respect, the foreign journalists were directed to take the Regional Office of Press Information Department into confidence while visiting the border areas for professional assignments.

Under the decision, the PID with collaboration of Home and Tribal Affairs Department and Political Administration Khyber Agency arranged a trip for the foreign journalists to Khyber Pass. However, they were not allowed to reach on the border at Torkham.
