Prime Minister launches Ramazan relief package

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf on Saturday launched ‘Ramazan Relief Package’ here at Aabpara Utility Store under which profit on all commodities at the utility stores has been withdrawn.

The prime minister arrived at the Aabpara Utility Store on a surprise visit and reviewed quality and prices of commodities. He also met with the people busy in shopping there and asked about prices and standard of the commodities being sold at the utility store.

He expressed satisfaction over the standard and prices of commodities at the store. Talking to media persons, the Prime Minister said that the government wanted to give maximum relief to the people during Ramazan and added that it was providing Rs 2.5 billion subsidy on commodities at the utility stores. He said that there were 5800 utility stores in the country where 1,800 different commodities were being sold on discounted rates. He directed the management of utility stores to send mobile utility stores to those union councils during Ramazan where there was no utility store.

He said that under the Ramzan Relief Package, Rs 150 discount had been given on 20 kg bag of flour, Rs 15 discount on per kg of sugar, Rs 28 per one kg of ghee (oil), Rs 15 on per kg of pulses, Rs 25 on one kg white gram, Rs 50 on per kg of tea, Rs 16 per kg of minced gram, Rs 45 per kg of dates, Rs 25 per kg rice, Rs 28 per bottle of Jame Shiren, Rs 10 on tetra pack and 15 percent on spices.
