PEMRA issues show cause notices to channels
Islamabad–Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued notices to private satellite TV channels (SAMAA & Waqt TV) on showing dead body, blood and gore while covering unfortunate incident of assassination of Punjab Governor, Mr. Salman Taseer (late) on January 4, 2011 at Islamabad.
Pemra has re-affirmed that the Authority is determined to inculcate media ethics among its licensees and takes cognizance of any violation committed by any of the private satellite TV channel while covering any act of terrorism and violence in any part of the country.
In past, PEMRA has issued notices to various satellite TV channels on telecasting blood and gory scenes, live on their respective satellite TV channels which is contravention to the PEMRA rules, regulations & licence terms & conditions.
