Pemra action against private TV anchor sought
RAWALPINDI: Condemning objectionable remarks and false allegations levelled against superior courts and judges by an anchor of a private TV channel Mubashir Lucman, the Rawalpindi High Court Bar Association (RHCBA) has demanded of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) to take a legal action against him forthwith.
This demand was made during an emergency meeting of the HCBA, Rawalpindi, which was chaired by its President Shafqat Ali Bhatti.The participants, in their addresses in the meeting, said that the anchor of the private TV channel was holding anti-judiciary discussions and judges of the superior judiciary were being made target. Therefore, legal action should be taken against him with immediate effect.
It was also emphasised during the meeting that the present political crisis should be solved through dialogue as soon as possible.The meeting was attended by High Court Bar Secretary Khurram Masood Kiyani, Senior Vice President Shaista Altaf and other office bearers.
