PESHAWAR: Yale University, USA, has selected Pakistani journalist Imtiaz Ali as a 2008 Yale World Fellow. A correspondent for the Washington Post and Geo English TV, Ali reports on militancy and the war on terror from the volatile tribal region along the Afghan border, says a press release.

The Yale World Fellows Programme aims to build a global network of emerging leaders and broaden international understanding. The programme conducts a worldwide competition each year to select 18 highly-accomplished men and women from diverse fields and countries for a four-month leadership programme at Yale. The 2008 fellows were selected from a pool of nearly 1,100 applicants from over 100 countries. Hailing from Takar village in Mardan district of the NWFP, Imtiaz Ali has also worked for BBC Pashto Service and The News. “It is a remarkable honour to have been selected to the Yale World Fellows Programme,” he said.
