Pakistan: Website of World Sindhi Institute Blocked
July 28 2006: Pakistan Government has blocked the website of World Sindhi Institute (WSI). In a press release the Washington based WSI issued a statement expressing concern on imposition of ban on websites within Pakistan.
Munawar Leghari, Executive Director of WSI said the bans fit a pattern of human rights violations related to the press that the WSI had documented in its recent report on Human Rights Violations in Sindh, which cited three cases where journalists were murdered, tortured, or threatened as a result of their work.
