Pakistan Television (PTV) News goes on air

ISLAMABAD- Pakistan’s first 24-hour news channel PTV NEWS, begins its transmission Friday morning. The channel will begin transmission with 10 minutes of news in Urdu as part of the News Morning that would be run daily on 7am to 9pm on Channel-3 and PTV World. News Night will be available on Channel 3 from 10pm to 11pm. In the first phase, the channel will beam news on-the-hour every-hour in addition to current affairs programmes six days a week. “We will endeavour to present quality news to our viewers in an innovative manner and involve the viewers through emails and phone calls in the news and current affairs programmes,” Managing Director PTV, Yousaf Beg Mirza said.

The channel will telecast in English five times a day at eight in the morning, 2pm, 6pm, 10pm and at 2am. Khabarnama will be telecast on PTV-1 and PTV World. In addition, there would news headlines every half hour in the second phase. In the News Show, to be daily affair, the ten-minute news will be followed by current affairs discussion from 7.10am to 8am. After that English news at eight in the morning, a programme entitled Issue in Focus will present in depth review of the topic of the day from 8.10am to 8.50am.
