Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited takes action against cable runners

KARACHI- Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has decided to launch operation against all the TV cable operators who have been operating illegally.

Sources in PTCL have disclosed that in first phase, the wiring of TV cables on telephone poles and their brackets are being removed. The decision to this effect was made at a high level meeting held recently in Islamabad, sources added. The operation has been approved because due to wiring of TV cables, the PTCL staff faces difficulties in their working on poles in major cities like Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. The main reason is the official permission, which has not been issued to anybody for launching TV cable system.

The decision has been notify and all the General Managers have been sent letters for launching operation. After completion of first phase of the operation, second phase would be launched. The PTCI Magistrates and District Magistrates then would take action against the unauthorised cable holders and owners.
