Newspaper owners end boycott of Wage Board

ISLAMABAD- All Pakistan Newspaper Society (APNS) has ended its boycott of the seventh Wage Board for newspaper employees and announced that they would attend the next meeting of the board in Peshawar on Aug 26 and 27.

The announcement came in the wake of a meeting of the APNS and the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) with Federal Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis Minister Omar Asghar Khan, president of the board, Justice Raja Afrasiab Khan, Secretary Information Anwer Mehmood and Principal Information Officer Ashfa Gondal.

It was agreed during the meeting that nominees of the employers would attend the next meeting of the Wage Board, being held in Peshawar on Aug 26 and 27, said an official press release.

Earlier, a delegation of All Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation (Apnec), and Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), held a meeting with the labor minister, the president of seventh Wage Board, information secretary and the principal information officer.

The delegation discussed matters pertaining Wage Board award and apprised the meeting about the problems regarding newspaper employees.
