Newsman manhandled

MUZAFFARABAD- Relatives of a former Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) minister beat and injured a senior journalist in the southern Rawalakot city of Azad Kashmir after inviting him at the ministerÂ’s residence on the pretext of holding talks.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), lodged by Sardar Nazar Mohammad Khan, Rawalkot-based correspondent of an Urdu daily, Noman Ashraf, son of the former health minister, Sardar Mohammad Ashraf Khan, came to his residence and said his father wanted to speak to him (Nazar).

He said in the FIR that he accompanied the former minister’s son but while they were close to their residence, three persons, who he identified as Adnan Ashraf, son of Sardar Asharaf, Irfan, son of Akram and Imran, son of Mir Akbar, appeared on the scene and started beating him severely, due to which his nose was fractured.
