Nadra officials granted bail in fake CNIC issuance case

ISLAMABAD: A local court on Friday granted bail to a driver and guard of National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), booked by Rawalpindi police on the charges of issuing fake national identity cards.

The Special Judge Central, Rawalpindi Sohail Nasir after hearing plea of the Nadra officials granted bail to the driver and guard of the authority’s mobile van, who were arrested by Rawalpindi Police under the charge of issuing fake identity cards.

The judge remarked that Nadra being a federal authority responsible for issuing CNICs to citizens and filing case under Section 420 PPC against them was surprising.

The judge expressed surprise over judicial remand of the guard and driver, saying that the guard and driver have nothing to do with CNIC issuance.

The guard and driver were detained by Rawalpindi Civil Lines police last month, when they were registering women of the area on Women’s day.
