Mushahid opens PTV World M-E Time Channel

DUBAI: Minister for Information and Culture Mushahid Hussain Sayed on Thursday said, the launching of PTV World is a significant initiative towards reinforcing already strong bonds of friendship between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Pakistan.

Addressing a press conference before inaugurating the channel the Information Minister said that the day’s event was being participated by the artists and over 6000 audience, which is the biggest ever, Pakistan culture show being held in Dubai.

Managing Director of PTV Yousuf Beg Mirza was also present.

He said we are looking for three Major objectives including image building (of the country), promotion of economy and deepening of cultural relations.

The minister said that he had detailed meetings with his counterparts in Dubai and Sharjah and extended them invitations who would be visiting Pakistan shortly.

Mushahid informed that Pakistan will hold an Arts and Culture Show here during the year 1999. Similarly, in January the 2000 Sharjah will hold Arts and Cultural Show in Pakistan, he added.

An exhibition of Pakistani movies would also be held in Dubai, he said.

The minister said we will have a close collaboration with Dubai TV the most developed and technologically advanced in the region.

Mushahid also met Information Advisor Government of Dubai, Riyad M. Al-Shuaibi and discussed with him matters to further deepen the existing relations between the two countries. He went round different sections of Dubai and was very much pleased to learn about Dubai TV.

He met Issam Bin Saqr bin Humaid Al-Qassimi, head of Department of Culture and Information, Government of Sharjah, who informed him that Pakistani programmes are being telecast on Sharjah TV which are popular among Gulf countries.
