Mujtuba wins Novartis journalist award
KARACHI (APP): A senior journalist Hasan Mujtaba left here on Monday for United States to receive “Novartis prize of excellence in international journalism” being awarded by John Hopkins University, USA every year.
Mujtaba was declared second runner-up last month for his article “Among the sand dunes of the India-Pakistan border” published in the South Asian magazine Himal based in Nepal.
David Hoffman of Washington Post has the 1998 SAIS-Novartis prize while eight others runners-up belong to mostly western countries.
Hasan Mujtaba is the only recipient from Asia this year.
SAIS-Novartis prize was created to recognize outstanding achievement in the coverage of international affairs every year.
Scores of entries came from 32 entries this year in 20 languages.
