More Nadra centres for city

KARACHI: More National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) centres, with better facilities, are being opened in the city so that people could get their computerised national identity cards conveniently.

This was stated by Nadra deputy chairman Tariq Malik while speaking at the inauguration of an executive registration centre at Jauher Chowrangi in Gulistan-i-Jauher on Monday morning.

He said that Nadra was at present operating 42 registration centres and eight executive registration centres in the city.

He pointed out that transvestites had also been recruited under Nadra’s policy of equal opportunities for all.

Giving details of some other services, he said that Nadra had started revalidation of the arms licences issued by the interior ministry. He clarified that Nadra was just processing the applications while the licences were issued after the ministry’s approval.

Mr Malik said that Nadra had designated over 158 centres in the country – 13 of them in Karachi – to receive the applications.

Nadra Sindh chief Zahid Hussain and other officials also spoke.
