Media Ties: Indian journalists visit PU

LAHORE: Nine journalists from India’s leading media organisations visited Punjab University and its journalism and other facilities on Thursday.

After tours of the Centre for South Asian Studies and the PU Library, the delegation visited the Institute of Communication Studies and saw the television, radio and multimedia labs. They also interacted with students and saw some of their work.

They also met with Vice Chancellor Prof Mujahid Kamran, who briefed them about the proud history of the university and its future plans. He told them the university was trying to improve academic ties with other South Asian countries, but regretted that PU teachers often had their visa applications rejected.

The Indian journalists were hosted for lunch at the Executive Club, where delegation head Raj Changapa thanked the university for its hospitality. He said the media could play an important role in improving ties between India and Pakistan.

The delegation included Suhasini Haidar, Rohit Gandhi, Prasannan Radhakrishnan, Ajit Sahi, Shastri Ramachandaran, Seema Guha, Roy Agni and Geeta Mohan.
