Media persons walk out from NA committee meeting

ISLAMABAD: The media persons on Friday walked out from the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Inter Provincial Coordination meeting over the remarks of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Qudsia Arshad that all journalists take money for accommodating any news item.

She also claimed that all journalists were corrupt and they do not print or telecast any news until they get money. Ms Arshad claimed that journalists would not give proper coverage to the committee proceedings. She asked the committee secretary to give money from committee funds to journalists so that they might accommodate the committee proceedings.

Reacting to these baseless allegations by PML-N legislator, the journalists sitting in the committee walked out. Later, MQM MNA Nadeem Ehsan, PML legislator Dr Donya Aziz and Haji Rozuddin came out to pacify the journalists but they did not return and demanded that the MNA take back her remarks in front of the committee. However, Ms Arshad did not moved from her stand over the remarks.
