Mahreen lauds print media for promoting women’s issues

KARACHI, May 02 2006: the eminent TV actress, Mahreen Iiahi has said that the newspapers are playing a vital role in the promotion of those women who are engaged in business and other commercial activities. She has also applauded The Nation for giving maximum coverage to the issue related to women. Talking to The Nation April 01, she observed that the issue related to the women and their activities both social and commercial were highlighted in the columns of the newspapers.

As a women entrepreneur, she said that the print media had also promoted those women who were engaged in business and other commercial activities .She added that it also promoted FPCCI standing committee of women of which she was nominated a Co-Chairperson.

She thanked The Nation for providing exposure and highlighting the events held at the “Majmua” art gallery.
“Majmua” has provided a platform to artists, poets and creative minds for the last 12 years and has held nearly 14 shows abroad to promote the works of national artists”, she said.

Mahreen informed that “Majmua” was now providing a platform for women from the rural areas by opening a buying house and a cottage emporium of crafts with the aim of making women folk stronger and self-reliant. Paintings, embroideries, children’s cultural dresses, furniture, herbal items like hand-made soaps and handcrafted jewellery in beads, silver, and field with stones would be on display at the emporium.
