Local Taliban behead ‘informant’
SWAT: Local Taliban beheaded 22-year-old Mian Jan in Kabal tehsil on Saturday on charges of leaking information to the security forces, police sources said.
Mian Jan’s brother, Akbar Shah, told police that the local Taliban abducted Jan from Langnar village, where he had travelled for personal reasons. According to the police report, the abductors deposited the headless body of Jan in his native Aligrama village.
Mian Jan was on the militants’ hit list for his strong opposition to forces promoting Talibanisation in Swat. Sources have said that despite JanÂ’s death, his family is continuing to receive death threats who are promising dire consequences if they (the family) don’t leave the area. The family had asked the government to protect them from the militants.
