Kidnapping, torture of TV reporter slammed
LAHORE: Media watchdog Reporters Without Borders has condemned the kidnapping and beating of ARY TV reporter Babar Malik on August 21 by men in plain-clothes using what appeared to be an intelligence agency jeep in Peshawar.
In a press statement issued on Friday, the organisation said that Malik’s colleague had told them that before releasing him, Malik’s abductors told him: “You may be able to break big stories, but we can break your arms and legs.” Malik had just reported on disappearance of Imran Munir, a man supposedly held by the military on spying charges.
