Khalid condemns police action against journalists
LAHORE- Governor Punjab Lt-Gen (retd) Khalid Maqboolhas condemned the unpleasant incident which took place outside the Faisalabad stadium in which some journalists were injured as a result of violent police action.
Expressing his regrets over the incident, the governor sympathised with the journalists who had sustained injuries. He said the police officials responsible for the incident will not be spared.
Khalid said soon after learning about the sad incident, he had directed the Provincial Home Secretary to personally visit the Press Club Faisalabad to condemn the unfortunate incident. The governor observed that the present government enjoyed the most cordial and pleasant relations with the journalist community.
He said personally he had always lauded the meritorious services rendered by the newsmen in carrying out their professional duties in the national interest and had always tried his utmost to promote their welfare.
The governor further stated that speedy and stern action would be taken against the police officials involved in the incident in the light of the inquiry report being conducted by the local administration in order to avoid the recurrence of such unpleasant incidents in future.
