Karachi Union of Journalists criticizes police
KARACHI, April 15 2005: The Karachi Union of Journalists has condemned the police violent behaviour with journalists at Cantt Railway Station here on April 14.
In a press release KUJ president Ayub Jan Sirhindi and Secretary General Fazil Jameeli said the police hurled abuses at journalists and baton charged them when they were at the railway station to cover the departure of Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) leaders and workers for Lahore for Welcome of Asif Zardari.
Several photographers and reporters were injured. Journalists including Malik Munawwar, Tasadduk Ghouri, and Yaseen Jabalpuri were referred to a private hospital “ Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Hospital” because of serious injuries. They demanded government of taking action against erring.
