Journalists attacked

MIRPURKHAS, June 30 2006: Two journalist of Khahi town, district Sanghar were attacked by four armed persons while there were on their way home on Wednesday. According to reports Zahid Aslam and Jaffar Ali Baloch were on their way to Khahi Community Center when four armed men stopped them at gunpoint. They beat them up severely as a result the journalistÂ’s sustained minor injuries. The armed men fled away from the spot.

Jaffar Ali Baloch lodged a report with the Khahi police station and accused Ghazi Khan, Jan Mohammad, Rukundin and Muneer, all Maher’s by caste for attacking them. Office bearers of National Press Club Mirpurkhas and Mirpurkhas Union of journalists (MUJ) have strongly condemned the attack and demanded immediate arrest of the accused. The victims told The Nation that the attacker belonged to PML (Functional).
