IT course held for juvenile prisoners

HARIPUR – Over a dozen juvenile prisoners were given certificates on completing a three-month IT training course here on October 30.

Speaking on the occasion, Syed Tahir Ali Shah, programme in-charge of Information Technology Centre, Haripur, said the IT course was conducted with the assistance of Aurat Foundation which was running IT and skill development centres in different jails of the province.

He said at these centre juvenile delinquents were imparted computer training to make them useful citizen and help them earn a respectable earning when they were released.

He said the Aurat Foundation was also financing and running a women skill development centre in the Haripur jail under the supervision of a woman instructor. He said at this centre, women prisoners were given training in different skills, including needle work, stitching, sewing and other household chores, which could ensure a prosperous life for them. He said the juvenile prisoners were taught use of Window 98, Word 97, In-page, Power Point-97, Paint brush and use of Internet during their six month training.

Jail superintendent Malik Fakhr-i- Alam, who was the chief guest on the occasion, distributed certificates among the successful candidates.
