ISLAMABAD, Feb 5: The Election Commission warned all political parties and candidates on Tuesday against violation of the code of conduct and urged them to follow its provisions in letter and spirit.
The secretary of the commission, Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad said in a statement the EC had observed that provisions of the code of conduct for the coming elections were not being followed in true sense.
He, however, did not specify in what way the code was being violated, which party was doing it and what action had been taken against the violators.
He said it was the primary desire of the commission that a peaceful and congenial environment was provided to the candidates and voters.“It has, therefore, been desired that the political parties should strictly abide by the basic rules of the game and cooperate with the Election Commission in fulfilling its constitutional obligations in connection with the conduct of ensuing general elections in a credible and effective manner,” Kanwar Dilshad said.
